I am very concerned about the direction we are headed. Our children belong to their parent's. Sexual information must be based on the parents values. Our children do not belong to the state. Although I have not seen the curriculum, I do not support mandated sex classes at the state level. Because in Colorado a large portion of the budget goes for public education, legislators have become involved in curriculum. Strings are attached to that money. I would like more information.

I believe schools should not initiate treatment of any kind prior to parental knowledge and consent. Parents absolutely should have full access to curriculum.

Candidate's Comments:
These questions can not be in the context of YES vs NO answers. Although I have responded, as a nurse I understand and appreciate some human circumstances cannot be defined in absolutes. I am a former hospice nurse and realize that life is fragile and to be cherished, but under some circumstances, difficult options need to be available. This of-course must happen in the context of family involvement, if the patient had made known their desires and if available the situation has gone through an Ethics Committee review.
