Candidate's Comments:
I believe that religious and political beliefs should not disqualify anyone from earning a living or participating in public life. Licensure and certification should be based solely on professional qualifications and skills, not on personal beliefs. This ensures fairness and protects our constitutional rights of freedom of speech and religion. Faith-based organizations play an important role in our communities, and they should not be forced to choose between violating their beliefs and serving the public. Allowing them exemptions from certain regulations ensures that they can continue to provide critical services, such as adoption and education, while staying true to their convictions. Transparency is essential in any business transaction, especially when it comes to financial institutions. If a bank shuts down someone’s account, consumers should have the right to know why. This will help prevent ideological bias from influencing business decisions and protect individuals from unfair treatment based on their beliefs or political views. Donors should have the right to support causes they believe in without fear of harassment or retribution. Protecting confidential donor information ensures that individuals can contribute to charities and organizations freely, fostering a culture of generosity and protecting their privacy.

Candidate's Comments:
I believe that children struggling with gender identity issues should have access to compassionate, affirming care that respects their individuality. Forcing or directing children toward a specific outcome regarding their gender may not always be in their best interest. Instead, counseling should focus on understanding the child's feelings and supporting them through their journey in a way that promotes their mental health and well-being, rather than trying to fit them into a preconceived idea of gender. While I strongly believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity, I have concerns about adding 'sexual orientation' as a protected class. My concern is that it could lead to legal conflicts with religious organizations and individuals who hold traditional beliefs about marriage and sexuality. We need to find a balance that protects all rights, including religious freedom. I oppose elevating 'gender identity' to a protected class because it raises complex legal and social concerns, particularly in areas such as education, religious institutions, and privacy in gender-segregated spaces. While we must work to treat everyone with fairness and compassion, we also need to protect the rights of those with differing views and beliefs, including those who hold traditional understandings of gender.

Candidate's Comments:
Parents should have the freedom to choose the best educational environment for their children, and tax credits, vouchers, or education savings accounts provide opportunities for families, regardless of income, to access private or religious schools. This empowers parents to make decisions that align with their values and their child’s individual needs, fostering diversity and innovation in education. I believe in the importance of free speech and ensuring that teachers and students are not forced to use language or pronouns that conflict with their beliefs or understanding of biological sex. Everyone deserves respect, but mandating pronoun usage can infringe on individuals' rights to express their views and convictions in a way that aligns with their understanding of gender. Parents have the primary responsibility for their children's well-being and should be fully informed of any mental, physical, or emotional health interventions happening at school. Transparency is essential to ensure parents can make informed decisions and be active participants in their child's development, ensuring proper care and support both at home and in school. Parents should have full transparency about what their children are being taught in school and the right to opt out of lessons or activities that conflict with their values. This ensures that parents remain in control of their child’s education and upbringing while promoting accountability within the education system.

Candidate's Comments:
I believe that we have a responsibility to protect the most vulnerable. However, I also understand that there are circumstances, such as when the mother’s life is at risk or in cases of rape or incest, where difficult decisions must be made. These exceptions allow for compassionate consideration in rare and tragic cases. I do not believe that taxpayer dollars should be used to fund abortions or organizations that provide them. While I respect differing views, I think it's important to ensure that public funds are directed towards supporting life and health in ways that align with the values of our community. There are other healthcare services that can be provided without involving abortion. I believe in the sanctity of life and that we should provide compassionate care for terminally ill patients through palliative care and hospice, rather than assisting in ending their lives. Supporting life, even in its final stages, reflects our shared humanity and ensures dignity for every individual.
