Candidate's Comments:
The "ability to detect a heartbeat" is a red herring. As a trained scientist, I know that I can take heart muscle fibers from anything, put them in saline in a petri dish, and use electrodes to get them contracting consistently. Is that a heartbeat? No. It's just a bunch of fibers doing what they are supposed to do. Hearts are meant to push a liquid tissue around that we call "blood". At six weeks, there is NO BLOOD. There is only a bunch of cardiac fibers that may or may not start those contractions. No structure, no blood, no organs to push it to, no brain, no nothing. Ergo, no heart. Stop using FAKE criteria that aren't even science-based to make your criteria for whether or not a decision like this should be based. Shame on you. Taxpayer dollars pay for healthcare. PERIOD. Abortions for miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, and septic uteri are healthcare. Therefore, they should be paid for just like any other healthcare. Get OVER yourselves. Again, this is a decision of the person and their physician and is something that is none of the business of anyone else. The government (who is defined as society as a whole) is sticking their collective noses into a decision that is none of their business. If that person has gotten to that point and their physician is willing to provide that last act of kindness, it is simply none of anyone else's business. After the medications are delivered, it is still the individual's decision whether or not to carry out the plan. No one else. Whatever happened to the right of individual self-determination?

#5. This has historically allowed certain organizations to discriminate against minorities in getting children into same-sex or single-parent families who desperately wanted to adopt them when hetero parents were simply not available. It has also harmed children who might have been placed into homes that were of a mixed race or another race instead of the same race as them. I work as a CASA for the Juvenile Justice Foster Care System and I see how being in long term foster care is not a good solution for children when their birth parents have failed them in some way. I also see how isolating children in private schools is not a great idea because it limits their ability to see other people's life experiences and viewpoints as being as valid as their own. No, I cannot support exempting these "faith-based" organizations because doing so is essentially going back to Jim Crow and I won't do it. #7. No, definitely not. When financial donors are hidden behind a veil of secrecy, all kinds of corruption creeps in. That's how we got Citizens United. That's how we got the Koch brothers, Musk, Madeline Pickens, Bill Gates, Rupert Murdoch, Donald Trump, Jeffery Epstein, and all the rest of that slimy crowd. Absolutely not. I want crystal clear campaign financing laws. If those people didn't have ulterior motives, they wouldn't need to hide.

Gender confusion/sexual orientation/gender identity occur on a spectrum just like the colors on a rainbow. I could give you examples all through the realm of biology in nature. Of course these people need support and protection.

Candidate's Comments:
#11 You would insist on a teacher or student to address another person by their proper name, would you not? It's considered the customary thing to do. It's polite. I fail to see what the issue is about the pronouns that the individual student has asked that you employ when referring to that person. It sounds to this individual that the refusal has more to do with the intention to hurt, demean, degrade, and humiliate that person than it does anything else. That is repulsive. Using their chosen pronouns is just being consistent with their own view of themselves and harms no one. #12. This is a judgment call that could result in the outright abuse of the child. Example: no provider is required to inform parents if a child has approached them for treatment for an STI, birth control, or pregnancy information. If the school did that, they would be breaking the law. Be careful with this one. You are playing with matches in a pile of dynamite. #13 See #12. Parents sometimes hold views that are not in a child's best interests. Discuss with Family and Children's Services.

Candidate's Comments:
#15 I reluctantly support this for one reason. There are reports of some prisoners out in CA who are claiming female identity just to get into female-only prisons to attack female prisoners in sex crimes. Perhaps this is the only area that should be restricted? I don't know. I do know that the vast majority of trans females are no threat to cis females at all. I certainly would have no issue with having them in there with me. I've had more problems with aggressive cis females and cis males than these people. They just want to be left alone. #16 This makes me angry just to read it. Just pay for the services and quit putting your noses where they don't belong.
