Candidate's Comments:
We have recently seen mandates and threats to enforce those mandates in the ways mentioned in questions 4-6. We cannot allow the government to target individuals based on their religious or political beliefs. It is not belief but actual behaviour that might run afoul of existing laws. Those laws apply to everyone, not "those we don't like."

Candidate's Comments:
Parents are the traditional and rightful guardians of their children, not the state and not the schools. If there is a report of child endangerment or abuse, then existing legal mechanisms come into force. Those do not include, and must never include, the restrictions listed in questions 7-9.

Candidate's Comments:
My reservations about question 9 will be over when charter schools must take all applicants and must follow the same expulsion criteria as public schools. Until then, I am afraid vouchers would lead to a two tier school system. That would be a disaster for the country. We do not to create a caste system in America.

Candidate's Comments:
I want to emphasize that the government should have no role in abortion decisions and end of life decisions, other than to make sure a chosen procedure safely does what is intended. These are difficult decisions to be made by the individuals involved, the mother and the patient, hopefully with the doctor's advice, and possibly with family members or religious support - at the sole discretion of the mother or the patient. When the government approves a basic human right, that approval amounts to a limitation of the right. The government does not "approve" any right without making itself superior to that right, same as if the government issued a denial. I fully support the SCOTUS decision to remove the federal government from abortion decisions. SCOTUS left it to the states, which I would hope would also remove all laws pro and con, thereby returning abortion decisions to the human rights of the mother. We do not need a committee in the government deciding life and death on behalf of an individual.
