#5 is a gray area. Religious private schools or adoption services that do NOT take public funds are free to do as they do. It’s when they take state funding that they get held to state standards. The same with foster care.

Candidate's Comments:
#8 Conversion therapy is harmful because some people are born transgender. It’s genetics. It’s not a choice. Does that mean they should lose custody? No. But I think the parents would benefit with family therapy and education on the matter to keep the child from undue psychological harm. Should that be regulated on the state level? Also no. But we on the state level have the responsibility to outlaw abusive therapy practices. It’s not a question of religion; it’s a question of genetics and did the child inherit the attribute that naturally occurs in humans?

#9 Again, if private schools do not want state requirements, don’t take state money. The voucher system is a failed system in my opinion, and it is bankrupting the state. #10 No one should be “forced” to be a kind human. Hopefully someday they will just want to. As long as there is no bullying over it, being a decent person isn’t something you can mandate.

Candidate's Comments:
Freedom is freedom and it should be a private issue between patient and doctor. The government should not interfere because it is not black or white. When it comes to euthanasia, we are kinder to our pets at end of life than the suffering of our fellow humans. There should be guidelines to the above issues, but freedom in personal choices in your life must also be maintained.
