Candidate's Comments:
My name is Moshe Landman, and I am running for the Maryland State Senate in District 39 (Clarksburg, Germantown, Montgomery Village, and northern Gaithersburg). While I am running with the Green Party, you can be registered with any party and still vote for me. You can learn all about my campaign at www.MosheLandman.us. Now, you already know I care a lot about the environment, and want to make sure our families have clean air, water, food, and an eco-friendly future for our State. What you may not know is that I am the son of a famous Maryland Rabbi, and have Jewish Rabbis throughout my family. We believe in the sacredness of life, that a fetus has a soul that develops early on (as soon as 8-12 weeks). So we must preserve this life, and make sure its rights are protected. There are so many couples looking to adopt babies, and willing to pay for it. So let's help match them to struggling mothers, and even allow some visitation later in life so as to keep some bond between the biological parents and the child. In fact, while we are not against eating animals, we also believe animals have souls and should be treated with respect under proper conditions, even if we ultimately sacrifice them for our nourishment.

Candidate's Comments:
I studied at famous seminaries in Israel for a number of years, and am very familiar with Judeo-Christian values. We must respect every individual and group's religious beliefs and viewpoints. If an event or job requires them to violate their religious beliefs, we must allow them to pass or oppose such a task without the fear of retribution or loss of job. Any state or federal regulation that requires faith-based organizations to violate their beliefs must allow for exemption for that group. There should be safe school zones that allow students to discuss issues openly and honestly, without fear of consequences. We cannot fear the truth, wherever that may lead us. And of course, donor information should remain confidential if so desired by the donor so as not to be labelled by society in one way or another. At the same time, we are not against showing off that one has made a donation to a worthy cause. Sometimes, we must act with arrogance to promote an important social or environment cause. Charity is not something to be ashamed about.

Candidate's Comments:
We should recognize that some males want to become females, and some females want to become males. It is a personal choice. However, we cannot forget that a male has a different biology which may not be fair to incorporate into women's sports or other groups such as prisons. Professional counseling is especially necessary for children struggling with gender identity issues and can be very helpful. Sexual orientation should be a protected class, as we have seen dangerous discrimination and violence in America against them. Gender identity should also be protected.

Candidate's Comments:
America has a long history of public and private education. Each family must decide what is right for them, and we can support both. Even if a child goes to a public school, the family should be able to decide if certain classes or materials do not agree with their values and have alternative classes available. We must teach that a future America accepts all races and groups.

Candidate's Comments:
We must hold sacred and support individual beliefs and conscience in Maryland. Healthcare workers should be able to opt out of any procedure that violates their beliefs without fear of negative repercussions. Something as serious as gender transition should be disclosed to parents. Parents need to know if their children are dealing with health issues.
