Candidate's Comments:
-1- I believe that abortion should be allowed in specific cases involving rape, incest, and when the mother's life is in danger. I also believe that we must find common ground on divisive issues such as abortion. With that said, I believe a compromise can be found between banning abortion completely and allowing it up until birth. -2- I do not believe that tax-payer dollars should be used towards abortion providers. This is due to the division on the issue and also my belief that the less government intervention the better. Individuals who are opposed to abortion should not have their taxes go towards the very thing they oppose. Imagine the outrage from those who support "gun control" if the government provided funding to gun stores so that those who can’t afford a firearm could be given one from tax-payer dollars. -3- Like taking one off of life-support, I view "aid in dying" laws in a similar sense. After a thorough mental health evaluation, and a waiting period to confirm that they are confident in their decision, I believe that individuals who are suffering from a terminal illness should be allowed to pass with dignity and on their own terms.

Candidate's Comments:
-4 & 5- Individuals should not be forced to break their religious beliefs. Just as we respect one's dress and dietary restrictions, due to personal or religious reasons, we should also respect other life choices that are influenced by the religion they follow. -6- College is meant to be an opportunity to prepare young adults for life in the real world. With this in mind, the last thing that should be done is to try and shelter students from interacting with opposing beliefs and controversial issues. -7- Similar to campaign disclosure laws, I believe that donations to charities should also be public knowledge. If an individual feels so strongly in an institution that they are willing to give money to it, then they should have no shame in standing publicly with that institution.

Candidate's Comments:
-8- Allowing males who identify as female to compete in women's sports only cheapens the sport as a whole. It discredits the hard work and time that female athletes have dedicated their lives to in order to reach peak athleticism. Over our nation's history, women have fought for the opportunity to play competitive sports at every level. I believe it is a disservice to these sacrifices by allowing males who identify as female to compete in women's sports. -9- I see no reason as to why parents would be barred from obtaining professional counseling for both a personal and family matter. -10- (a) I do not see why anyone should discriminate in regard to someone's sexual orientation. People should be judged by their character plain and simple. (b) With "race, religion, sex, age, and disability" already protected classes within nondiscrimination law, and possibly "sexual orientation", I do not see how adding "gender identity" would be relevant. "Sex" protects both male and females from being discriminated against, and "sexual orientation" would protect males and females from being discriminated against regardless of their sexual orientation.

Candidate's Comments:
-11- Like all aspects of life, competition is a valuable asset that promotes growth. On that note, I support parents' right to choose what is best for their children. School choice offers both parents and students the best opportunities available to them while also challenging local schools to compete and grow with each other. -12- I do not like the broadness of this question. Parents should have a say in certain aspects of the material and lessons that are being taught to their children but not full control as teachers are a profession for a reason. I believe that instances in this regard should be treated on a case-by-case level, taking into account the material that is being objected to and the reason why. -13- Students should be taught history in its purest form. This comes from providing the facts about events and letting individuals come to their own conclusions. From there, individuals can debate the intentions of past figures, policies, and laws, and why they led to their respective historical events. -14- Parents should be given the respect of having access to the curriculum and materials that their children are being exposed to. However, and as I stated in my response to question 13, I believe that the choice to prohibit their children's exposure to certain ideas varies on the subject and the situation.

Candidate's Comments:
-15- Just as we protect other aspects in regard to one's religion/moral code, such as dress, diet, etc, I believe that we should also respect and protect one's actions in relation to their religion. An individual is allowed to act as a "conscientious objector" in times of war, allowing them to not participate in combat if they are morally opposed to it. Why shouldn't health care workers be given the same protection in their field of work? -16- & 17- As long as the child is under 18 years old, they fall under to protection and responsibility of their parents/guardians. Because of this, I do not believe that the very people who are responsible for them should be kept in the dark about major life events (counseling, medical services, and mental, physical, or emotional health).
