Candidate's Comments:
I'm a little conflicted about the losing custody question. But as for the profession counseling question, this is actually unethical for the counselor. Counselors are trained that they should never try to reach a specific outcome with clients, that they themselves do not want. I can absolutely support counseling for a child struggling, but the therapist can never urge them to accept their biological sex. The decisions are always up to the clients.

Candidate's Comments:
I support parents having the option to remove their children from extra-curricular activities. Allowing parents specifics of their children's emotional health information is very tricky, because you need to support children that might be abused at home having a safe place to get help. I DO NOT support school vouchers or any tax money being diverted from public schooling. This has caused the public school system to deteriorate in Indiana, as they have lost most of their funding. Instead, lets pour all of our funding back into public schools, while allowing parents greater visibility into what their children are learning. Then, parents can see sticky topics coming up in school, and ask for alternatives for things that parents do not approve of. But we have to have to funding, to provide the best schooling to ALL of Indiana's children.

Candidate's Comments:
While I am a Christian, and do not believe abortion to be the right choice in many situations, I have to represent all of my constituents. This means that I cannot support an abortion ban, which hurts those in poverty most, who usually already have limited resources. Rather than supporting an abortion ban, I propose funding adoption agencies, especially those with social workers that are willing to provide free prenatal care and safe housing to expecting mothers. We also need to invest in the incubator technology to allow babies to survive even earlier in the pregnancy. This would allow us to offer mothers the option to remove the baby, without an abortion. The parents could terminate their rights and the child could be put up for adoption. This would fill another need in the United States, as we have so many people that want to adopt babies.
