Candidate's Comments:
I have served thousand of women facing crisis in pregnancy as a certified nurse midwife and business owner of birth centers serving women, babies and families. Every woman deserves safety when giving birth and our birth centers are regulated in the state for this purpose. Abortion centers have no where near the safety regulations including identity high-risk women, complications and follow up with the same level of provider who presented at their delivery (abortion or not). Kansas is currently providing unsafe abortions to women without safety measure in place. We can do better. Regarding prohibiting abortion EXCEPT when necessary to save the mother's life needs a clear articulate definition prior to my agreeing. This too has been placed out of context in so many situations.
