6.Prohibiting De-Banking/Insuring Based on Beliefs: Prohibiting financial institutions from shutting a customer’s bank account or canceling their insurance because of their religious or political views. |

Candidate's Comments:
On 4: Government should never deny a license over what someone believes. What licensure can require is that everyone meet the same professional standards in what they do. Beliefs are protected; conduct on the job follows the rules of the profession. On 5: Every organization is free to practice its faith, and the First Amendment already guarantees that. But an agency taking taxpayer dollars to perform a public service, like placing foster children, serves every qualified family. Public money, public rules. On 6: No bank or insurer should close someone's account over their politics or faith. That is true whether the customer is a church, a gun shop, or an environmental group.

8(a).Parental Rights: Allowing parents to obtain professional counseling for a child struggling with gender confusion to help the child find comfort with his or her biological sex. |
X | ||

Candidate's Comments:
On 7: As a dad, an easy yes. Platforms built addiction into their products and aimed them at kids. Parental controls and design limits are overdue. On 8 (a): Parents can already get counseling for their child, and they should. What this describes is different: therapy where the conclusion is decided before the child walks in. Every major medical association warns that approach hurts kids. Real counseling explores, it doesn't railroad. On 8 (b): Custody belongs with judges weighing one child's whole welfare, case by case, not with a statute that pre-decides one factor and ties a court's hands in genuine abuse cases. No loving home should lose a child over a disagreement, and I'm not aware of any North Carolina court doing that.

Candidate's Comments:
On 9: I'm a public school parent. These programs now send tax dollars at any income level to schools with no testing requirements and no obligation to admit your child. Taxpayers deserve to know what they're buying. On 10: No North Carolina law or school district compels anyone's pronoun use, so this protects against something that isn't happening. I won't support legislation whose real effect is state permission to single out specific kids. On 11: Parents should know what's happening with their kids, and current law already requires notification in nearly every case. But "any information, no exceptions" removes a counselor's judgment in the rare case where the parent is the danger the child is reporting. I answered the same way on minor consent: the law has to catch the kids who fall through. On 12: Yes. I'm for transparency in every institution I'd serve in, and parents reviewing curriculum is already the law. Opt-outs for objectionable material, also yes.

Candidate's Comments:
On 1: A "heartbeat" law is a ban at six weeks, before many women know they're pregnant. These decisions belong to women, families, and doctors, not the legislature. On 2: Federal and state law already prohibit tax dollars from paying for abortion. This funding buys cancer screenings, contraception, and STI testing, often where no other clinic exists. On 3: I support the model used in ten-plus states: terminal diagnosis, two physicians, repeated requests, the patient acting for themselves. Whether the end comes with hospice, faith, or this option belongs to the family in that room.
