Candidate's Comments:
Everyone should be free to practice their religion without fear of discrimination. At the same time, no one should have their religious beliefs imposed upon them by others. Religious convictions often call for personal sacrifice by the believer, but they should not require unwilling sacrifices from those who do not share those beliefs. Employers should clearly disclose the essential duties and responsibilities of a position before hiring so applicants can make an informed decision about whether the job aligns with their sincerely held beliefs. When conflicts arise, employers should make reasonable accommodations for employees' sincerely held religious beliefs whenever doing so does not create an undue hardship or prevent the employee from performing the essential functions of the job.

Candidate's Comments:
Parents and legal guardians should play the primary role in raising and guiding their children. They know their children best and have both the responsibility and the authority to make decisions in their children's best interests. Because children are vulnerable and depend on adults for their well-being, society also has a responsibility to protect them from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Appropriate checks and balances are necessary to ensure that every child's safety and welfare remain the highest priority. Children and adolescents who are struggling with questions related to gender identity, sexual orientation, or sexual health may be facing complex medical, psychological, or developmental issues that extend beyond the expertise of most parents or guardians. Families should have access to qualified medical and mental health professionals who can provide evidence-based information, evaluation, and support. No child should be denied access to appropriate medical or mental health care. Access to qualified health care professionals should be recognized as an essential part of protecting every child's health and well-being, while encouraging parents and guardians to remain actively involved in their child's care whenever it is safe and appropriate.

Candidate's Comments:
9) Public Education Every child deserves access to a high-quality public education, regardless of their family's income or where they live. Public schools are a cornerstone of our communities and are funded because an educated population benefits everyone. I understand that many parents are concerned about what their children are being taught and want to ensure that schools are not replacing their family's values. Parents should have meaningful opportunities to review curriculum, communicate with teachers, and be active partners in their child's education. Transparency builds trust. At the same time, diverting public education funding away from public schools reduces the resources available to the children who remain in those schools. Those children should not receive a lower-quality education because funding has been redirected elsewhere. Public education is supported by all taxpayers, including many who do not have children in school, because it serves the public good. If public education funds were broadly redirected for private use, it would raise important questions of fairness for taxpayers who continue to support the system without receiving a comparable direct benefit. 10) Respect for Every Student Every child deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness regardless of their sex, gender identity, race, religion, disability, or background. When there is uncertainty or disagreement regarding a student's preferred pronouns, teachers can often maintain a respectful learning environment by referring to the student by their name. This approach allows educators to treat students respectfully while avoiding unnecessary conflict and keeping the focus on education. 11) Parents and Student Health Parents and legal guardians should generally be informed when their child requires medical attention or ongoing medical support at school. Schools should clearly communicate their policies regarding student health, medical emergencies, counseling, and referrals so parents understand how these situations are handled. When a student is experiencing a medical or mental health concern, schools should work collaboratively with parents whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so, while ensuring the student's health, safety, and access to qualified medical care remain the highest priority.

Candidate's Comments:
I believe we should all work together to reduce the number of abortions. Simply banning abortion does not eliminate it from society or address the circumstances that lead women to consider it. We should focus on preventing unintended pregnancies and addressing the underlying economic, health, and social factors that contribute to abortion. By improving access to education, contraception, affordable health care, child care, and support for families, we can reduce unintended pregnancies and help create a society where fewer women feel that abortion is their only option.
