Candidate's Comments:
While I would generally vote to allow religious exemptions to any law or regulation, that belief does not extend to harming people. Therefore, I would only vote for exempting faith-based organizations from regulations for the protection of children when doing so does not cause harm to the children. In the case of private schools, I would be more permissive as the parents may voluntarily consent on the child's behalf.

Candidate's Comments:
In my professional career and my life I have spent a lot of time studying technology, the internet, and methods of control and censorship. This has led me to the conclusion that there is absolutely no way to restrict the internet that does not impinge on our first amendment rights, including, and especially, the right to practice a religion of our choice. This issue is a double edged sword that will inevitably harm the very people and organizations that seek to bring it into law. It is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of internet communications. I would be more than happy to discuss this further with your organization.

Candidate's Comments:
I would caveat the tax credit question by saying I would not be in favor of using vouchers for public schools or charter schools but that isn't a deal breaker for me. I would however not support any scheme that did not also apply to homeschoolers in substantially the same way as other students. I would also like to see all educational expenses be a tax deduction. Regarding informing parents of health information and treatment, I do not find it acceptable that a child would receive any kind of mental, physical, or emotional treatment without the consent of the parent let alone without their knowledge. Except for emergency medical treatment or minor injuries. For the curriculum question, I agree in principle but would not be acceptable with opting out of specific lessons. But, nothing in the law should allow a school to hold a student against their will or a parent maintaining or reclaiming physical control and custody of their own child.

I only support physician-assisted suicide for terminally ill patients when the patient is experiencing a great deal of physical suffering and the assistance would reduce that suffering.
